a few leaders of the KWV. With the permission of Mr. Zoerb, we are sharing his e-mail with you.
한인회에서는 해마다 뉴햄프셔주의 한국전 참전용사들을 초대하여 보은행사를 해 왔습니다.
뉴햄프셔주에는 한국전 참전용사전우회가 있습니다.
참전용사 전우회에 초대장을 보내면, 전우회에서는 참전용사회원들에게 연락을 취하고 그들이 모일 수 있도록 수고해 줍니다. 올 해에도 많은 참전용사들과 그 가족들이 주립 현충원에 모여서 함께 행사에 참여하였습니다. 저희는 그 전우회의 리더들께 감사를 표하고 담화를 나누는 시간을 가졌습니다.
한때 10대 후반이었던 한국전 참전용사들이 이제 80대 중반에 접어들었습니다.
해가 갈수록 점점 더 소수의 분들만 남아있게 될 것이고, 언젠가는 한 분도 남아계시지 않을 날도 올 것입니다. 그 때까지 저희 한인회에서는 한국정부
및 한인동포사회를 대표하여 그 참전용사들의 희생을 기억하고 감사의 표현을 할 것입니다.
미군의 희생을 기억하는 한인동포사회의 이러한 노력들에 미 주지사와 상하원의원실에서도 한인동포사회에 감사의 뜻을 매해 전해 오고 있습니다. 이 "참전용사 보은행사"는 한인동포사회와 주류사회를 연결하는 한인회의 여러가지 노력 중 하나입니다.

Here are a few photos from last week's lunch at
the Korean restaurant here in Nashua.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our time
there and meeting the two of you.
Thank you very much.
It was my pleasure to be
in the first return trip to Korea in June of 2000 for the 50th anniversary of
the start of the conflict. There was a group of about 25 of us representing
about 10 countries which sent soldiers from the United Nations. We were treated
like royalty and given flowers upon our arrival in Seoul and later in Taegu
where we spent most of our week. We attended a Peace Festival on the banks of
the Yakdong River, were in a parade, and were taken to several monuments and
other festivities. I went with a friend from basic infantry training at
Scofield Barracks in Hawaii. Later, after basic I went to leadership School at
Scofield and then to Korea where I was sent to radio school in Chunchon and was
then assigned to the 31st Infantry Regiment.
I consider my time spent in the
Army and in Korea among the highlights of my life.
I was in Korea from about
July of 1952 to February of 1953.
Again, thank you very much for all that the
Korean-American Society has done for us Korean veterans.
